The numbers are weird this week in class 025; we had 604 new registered trademarks (pretty average), 90 cancellations (a tiny number!), and 28 abandoned applications, of which nearly half were worth curating for you. One of the cancellations is THIS GIRL CAN, which (if memory serves) they were really aggressive sending takedowns for phrases that started with “This Girl Can” and then included an activity. (This Girl Can Hunt, This Girl Can Fish, This Girl Can Play Ball, etc. etc.)
Note: The marks in part 1 are now fully registered and active! These lists are compiled from the Trademark Official Gazette, which publishes lists of the newest registered marks every week. (Some of these are legitimate brand names! I’ve included them on this list because those brand names are also words or phrases that may be used on the goods in question by crafters and makers.)
PART 1: NEW REGISTRATIONS (PRINCIPAL REGISTER)
A WAY OF LIFE – Just vague enough that it can apply to anything.
BEYOND WORTHY
BORN TO ROAR – Goes right below BORN A LION on the spreadsheet, because there are no original ideas.
BRUNCH – They already have at least 2 other registrations in 025.
CAPTAIN HOOK – Goods: men’s underwear. Which … sounds painful.
DO YOU NEED SOME WATER – Why yes, I could use some! Thanks!
EMBRACE – Owner is a musician named Jaap Hamburger, which I think is an amazingly cool name.
EMO KIDS – Wearing pumped up kicks?
FCKSHT – Very efficient swearing, I approve.
GIVE A KID A CAMERA – More productive than giving a mouse a cookie.
GIVE ME ICE – Same company in China that wonders if you need some water.
GO BE FEEL
HOMELESS ARE HUMAN
I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO – Owned by the San Francisco Travel Association.
IT’S ALL YOURS – Another one that’s so vague that it becomes all-encompassing.
LET LIGHT LIVE
LOVE WHERE YOU’RE FROM – I do! That’s why I moved somewhere with a similar vibe and climate.
MUST LOVE COWS – Sorry, I don’t; they’re too drooly and gross. But I do love watching Nate the Hoof Guy on TikTok.
PASSPORT PRINCESS – This is NOT the female version of a Passport Bro.
PAY DAY – Fun board game, tasty candy bar, and excellent day of the week.
ROMANCE IS DEAD – Unless it’s Romantasy; the ACOTAR fans are very much alive!
SHOT IN THE DARK
SWISS ARMY KNIFE – Owned by Victorinox, original makers since 1891.
THERE IS SOME WATER – Same company in China that has thoughts about water and ice above.
TRUCK – Goods: ski gloves; bicycle gloves.
UNSTOPPABLE
UP FOR IT
WATER THE PLANTS – Thank you for that reminder, my kumquat looks a little parched.
WE DON’T EAT WE DON’T SLEEP – And we don’t experience joy.
WE STRONG
WOULD YOU LIKE SOME COFFEE – A couple more from that same fluid-obsessed company in China.
WOULD YOU LIKE SOME WATER

PART 1-D: MY FAVORITE ILLUSTRATED MARKS OF THE WEEK
I’m going with two this week, just to show the vast difference between a couple of universities. We have a … feral hog? Pitching baseball? Which is drawn in a way that makes him look like his arms are coming out of his back? From the University of Arkansas, and then the high-kicking drum major guy? From the University of Tennessee. Apparently the UA mascot is the Razorback, which is indeed a type of feral pig! While the UT mascot is a dog named Smokey XI, and they’re known as “The Volunteers.” Not sure what this fellow is volunteering, but sign me up!

PART 2: CANCELLED MARKS
(Standard disclaimer: Always double-check these words and phrases before using them in your designs, to make sure there isn’t a separate registration that is still live and active. Some marks have multiple registrations!)
BOURGEOISIE
GONE.
I HATE CLOWNS – Same, cancelled trademark. Same.
THIS GIRL CAN * [removed from spreadsheet!!]
THIS IS FOR THE FANS
WE TEND TO BE VERY PROTECTIVE
PART 3: ABANDONED APPLICATIONS! 🎉
Here are the applications that were abandoned this week in class 025, with mark drawing code 4. The most likely cause was the applicant not submitting corrected, updated, or informative material by the USPTO’s deadline. Ding, dong, these witches are dead! 🪦

[sic] = The mark contains a spelling, spacing, grammar, or punctuation error which does not appear to be wordplay. The error is left as-is.
[removed from spreadsheet] = The cancelled item had been on my spreadsheet of marks, and has now been removed.

As always, the new marks have been added to my ginormous spreadsheet; please check it out for a shockingly large list of registered trademarks!
